FIREFIGHTERS remained at a business in Widnes until the early hours of this morning, Saturday.
Three fire engines from Widnes, Penketh and Frodsham fire stations rushed to Desoto Road shortly after 11pm last night.
Crews were called to reports of a fire inside the power plant building of a commercial premises dealing in animal by-products.
Wearing breathing apparatus, they used two hose reel water jets to extinguish the fire, while on-site staff drained tanks of fat to reduce the amount of potential fuel in the area.
They remained on site until around 1am checking for hotspots. The fire is believed to have been caused by the accidental overheating of oil.
