She is the co-host of the ARC Energy Ideas podcast, a weekly show that explains the latest trends and news in Canadian energy and beyond.
Jackie is a member of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Renewable Energy Association (CanREA). She is also a member of the Explorers and Producers Association of Canada (EPAC)’s Board of Governors. She is a former board member of Longshore Resources Ltd, a privately held exploration and production company.
Prior to joining ARC, she was the leader of North American crude oil research for IHS CERA. Jackie has published 20 public papers on energy issues. She has co-hosted over 100 podcasts and written numerous columns, spanning all energy systems from oil and gas to clean energy, including electric vehicles, renewable power, carbon capture and biofuels.
Jackie was the recipient of the 2018 Schulich School of Engineering Environment and Sustainability Alumni Award, recognizing her contribution to a significant body of knowledge that has helped to increase the understanding of the connection between energy and environment. She is currently a member of the Schulich Industry Advisory Council (SIAC), the group provides input to the engineering school to help to ensure that programs and initiatives align with industry needs.
Jackie attended the University of Calgary where she received an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering. She also has an MBA from Queens University.
Mr. Danaher joined ArcLight in 2016 and has almost two decades of energy finance and private equity experience. Prior to joining ArcLight, he was a Managing Director at John Hancock where he was responsible for the origination and execution of debt and equity investments in the power, infrastructure, and utility sectors. At Hancock, Mr. Danaher led more than $8 billion of investments across various debt private placements, project financings, and infrastructure equity capital.
Mr. Danaher holds an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Boston College and an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Hamilton College.
Mark Voccola is Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of Ardian Infrastructure US. In addition to investing activities, Mark is part of the infrastructure co-investment/syndication team. He is a board member of portfolio company Hill Top. Mark joined Ardian in 2018. Previously, Mark was a Partner at Ares Management, within the Ares Private Equity Group, where he was responsible for sourcing and appraising investment opportunities and monitoring portfolio companies. Prior to joining Ares in 2015, he was a Partner at Energy Investors Funds (EIF).
Tony Gordon, a founding partner of AVAIO Capital, has 25+ years of proven expertise in executing investment strategies in energy and infrastructure. He has concluded numerous transactions across the entire value chain and relevant capital structure(s) for private and institutional investors culminating in: physical asset acquisition; joint-ventures, mergers and divestitures; recapitalizations; commodity and environmental risk management; as well as combinations of economic/capital structure and physical asset/portfolio optimization.
Tony has successfully built numerous multi-billion dollar global “platform” investment vehicles targeted at: energy transition/low carbon; low carbon data centers and industrial water treatment; the LNG value chain; and carbon emissions origination/externality risk management. Additionally, he has created successful physical energy asset optimization/risk management business platforms both in the US and Europe as well as successfully invested in energy transition technologies at varying stages of marketplace adoption (e.g., CCS; Biogas; WTE; on-shore and off-shore Wind; Solar; Energy Storage; Geothermal, etc.)
Prior to co-founding AVAIO in 2018, he was a Managing Director, Energy & Infrastructure at Och-Ziff for 12 years, where was a senior member of the team focused on illiquid asset investing – creating a large portfolio of real assets in North America, Western Europe, and the Middle East. He also represented Och-Ziff as a Board Member/Director of numerous portfolio companies.
Prior to Och-Ziff Tony was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs – during his 9-year tenure, he founded their European Power and Natural Gas activities, and was co-founder of their North American Merchant Power business (e.g., Constellation and Orion). He was a principal in the US’s first emissions merchant firm (AER*X, 1991-1993) and was a corner stone investor/long-term board member at both Climate Change Capital and Blue Source. He has also held positions at Salomon Brothers (1984-1989).
Tony has spoken at a myriad of industry and regulatory conclaves across the globe, including, numerous COPs (Paris, Lima, Bonn, Glasgow). He has often been an “on-call” expert for senior government officials and c-suite executives challenged by the business issues associated with climate change. While at Yale, Tony was a Sussman Fellow at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation. Additionally, Tony has been a long-board member of several sustainable finance initiatives (Yale Initiative on Sustainable Finance, Nobel Sustainability, GRESB, etc.). In 2019, he was appointed a member of the inaugural IHS Markit Global Carbon Index Advisory Committee. He has received numerous awards and recognitions during his career including, Goldman Sachs’s Deal of the Year Award (first time awarded outside of investment banking).
Tony received a BA from Amherst College and an MS from Yale University- School of the Environment.
Michael Yuffee has extensive experience representing clients in energy and commodity-related regulatory proceedings, investigation, and transactional matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). He is experienced in the regulatory facets of both the physical and financial wholesale power, natural gas, oil, and products markets, including the formation and redesign of wholesale energy markets, transmission and transportation access, capacity market development, interconnection issues, electric transmission, natural gas and oil pipeline rate proceedings, and general administrative and civil litigation matters. He regularly represents wholesale market participants, energy traders and marketers, commodities traders, financial institutions, wholesale power suppliers, and integrated energy companies with the development of regulatory compliance programs as well as represents clients in both public and non-public investigations, audits, and enforcement actions before the FERC, CFTC, and other agencies.
Michael also advises clients in the complex regulatory aspects of structured physical and financial energy transactions, project development transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and wholesale power and natural gas transactions.
Michael was previously the head of the FERC regulatory practice at a leading international law firm. Prior to entering private practice, he was an attorney-advisor in FERC's Office of Administrative Law Judges, where he assisted in all aspects of electricity and natural gas rate proceedings, mergers, and utility restructuring.
Michael holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and History from Boston University, and a JD from Washington University School of Law.
Ms. Fang is a Managing Director with Black & Veatch and a Ph.D. economist with over 20-year experience in integrated energy market modeling and forecast, asset valuation and commercial strategy. Ms. Fang has led several engagements exploring hydrogen as a decarbonization strategy for utility clients. She also led optimization analysis for facility size, storage, and transportation options for multiple green hydrogen projects.
Philip (Phil) is Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning and Tax of CenterPoint Energy. In this role, he leads the company’s corporate strategy, investment analyses, and business and corporate development activities in support of its long-term growth strategy. In addition, he is responsible for CenterPoint Energy’s Tax function.
With 15 years of experience in energy, power and renewables investment banking and capital markets, Phil has held roles of increasing responsibility over his career. Most recently, he served as Managing Director, Energy, Power and Renewables Investment Banking at Guggenheim Securities, the investment banking and capital markets business of Guggenheim Partners, a global investment and advisory firm. In this capacity, Phil led Guggenheim’s relationship with the State of California, including advising Governor Gavin Newsom on the PG&E Bankruptcy and the creation of the California State Wildfire Fund.
Prior to this role, Phil spent eight years at Citigroup where he served as Director, Power and Utilities Investment Banking. He led strategic and merger and acquisition advisory assignments for several utility and energy holding companies, including AES, Dominion Energy, Duke Energy, Energy Future Holdings, InfraREIT, Iberdrola, PG&E, Southern Company and Vistra Energy.
Phil earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Emory University in Atlanta.
Since joining the Clean Energy Ventures (CEV) Investment Team in 2019, Peter has driven over 30 deep due diligence efforts resulting in leading Seed and Series A fundraises for 9 new portfolio companies, for which Mr. Sopher is a Board Member post-investment. Outside of diligence and portfolio support, Mr. Sopher is proactive sourcing, networking, and building and managing internal processes and resources for CEV.
Prior to CEV, Mr. Sopher’s career focused on global energy and environmental challenges using financial, economic, and policy approaches.
He began his career at Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) where he specialized in interdisciplinary clean energy, carbon market, and deforestation reduction analyses – first as the Climate Economics Fellow on EDF’s International Climate Team (2011-2013), and subsequently as a Clean Energy Analyst (2013-2016). He led and facilitated the crafting of policy solutions, and he authored over 40 publications for diverse audiences spanning scientific and law review journals, public reports, and mainstream media.
Before entering graduate school in 2016, he launched his finance career at Option 3 Ventures, an early-stage venture capital fund focused on cyber security. During his first graduate school summer in 2017, Peter published an econometric Insight Paper on early-stage venture capital trends in the energy sector as the Birol Fellow within the Paris-based International Energy Agency’s Economics & Investments Office. For the summer of 2018, Peter became a Project Finance Associate as a member of CrossBoundary’s Johannesburg office, where he evaluated clean energy infrastructure developments in Southern Africa.
Peter graduated a concurrent MBA/MPA program at The Wharton School and Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government in 2019. As an undergraduate, Peter majored in Economics and attained a Certificate in Environmental Studies at Princeton University.
Saurabh Anand is a Managing Director, responsible for origination, analysis, structuring, valuation and execution of investments for Denham’s Sustainable Infrastructure team. He brings over 19 years of principal investing experience in the global energy industry to the firm and is a member of the Investment Committee.
Saurabh currently serves on the Board of Directors of Nexif Energy, Rio Energy, Ceiba Energy, and Greenleaf Power.
Prior to joining Denham, Saurabh spent four years with GE Energy Financial Services focusing on private equity and structured financing transactions in the energy industry. In this role, he originated, evaluated, and executed multiple power generation and oil and gas investments in the United States and Asia Pacific region.
Saurabh received a Bachelor of Engineering from Panjab University and an MBA from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.
Brian Savoy serves as executive vice president and chief strategy and commercial officer for Duke Energy. He is responsible for enterprise strategy as well as strategies to transform the company's generation and transmission assets to achieve its net-zero carbon emissions goals. In addition, he has responsibility for commercial renewables, the natural gas business unit, business ventures and development, and relationship management and sales for large customer accounts.
Before assuming his current position in May 2021, Savoy served as senior vice president and chief transformation and administrative officer for Duke Energy. He led the company's business transformation through digital innovation, new ways of working, and process redesign. He had responsibility for the enterprise business services and technology team, including the information and technology, administrative services, supply chain, and human resources organizations. He was also responsible for Customer Connect, a new customer information and engagement system.
Prior to that, Savoy served as Duke Energy's chief accounting officer and controller, where his responsibilities included the accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls for the corporation. He joined the company in 2001 as a manager in Duke Energy's energy trading unit, Duke Energy North America, and he was named director of trading and risk services later that year. Savoy led derivative accounting and trading control functions for energy trading and marketing activities and was instrumental in the successful wind-down and disposition of Duke Energy North America in 2005.
Following Duke Energy's merger with Cinergy in 2006, he was appointed vice president and controller of the commercial power segment and was responsible for accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls functions. In 2009, Savoy was named director of forecasting and analysis, where he played a significant role in addressing challenging business and strategic issues, including leading financial due diligence for the Duke Energy/Progress Energy merger completed in 2012.
Before joining Duke Energy, Savoy was a manager with the international accounting firm Deloitte & Touche, where he oversaw audit engagements for large energy clients. Savoy earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, and completed the Advanced Management Program at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in Durham, N.C. He is a certified public accountant in both Texas and Ohio. Savoy serves on the board of trustees for the Duke Energy Foundation. He is a board member of the Electric Power Research Institute.
Mr. Pepe has led hundreds of project finance transactions in the power, oil & gas, mining, paper, telecom and transportation sectors for more than 30 years. At HSH Nordbank, he financed over $2 billion of wind projects. At Ambac, Deutsche Bank, Credit Lyonnais, and Banca Intesa, Mike led project finance teams to structure and underwrite loans and manage multibillion dollar portfolios.
Mona leads the US State Policy Team for Enel North America (Enel), which advocates before legislative bodies and state executive offices on matters in support of clean energy technology adoption. Mona has been a leader in energy policy development for over 25 years in the Western United States and Texas. She has worked as a policy advocate for 3 Fortune 500 companies, including Enel, worked for two public utilities, in New Jersey and California, and worked with an oil and gas exploration and development company in Western Pennsylvania.
Mona’s leadership roles include with the following organizations: California Energy Storage Alliance (Board Chair), ERCOT’s Demand-Side Working Group (Chair), Advanced Energy Management Alliance (Regional Chair), the Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technologies (Board Member), Arizona Independent System Administrator (Board Member), Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG) (Energy Committee Co-Chair), and is actively engaged in Advanced Energy Economy, American Clean Power, and others trade associations.
She received the Innovator, Woman of the Year Award by California Women in Energy in 2017 and the Silicon Valley Leadership Group’s Working Council Chair’s Award in 2018. She has a B. S. Degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from Penn State.
With over 40 years of leadership experience, Steve is responsible for strategic positioning at EthosEnergy, a global independent service provider with over $1b in revenues in the power generation, oil and gas, and industrial markets. Steve has been an integral part of EthosEnergy since the formation in 2014, positioning the business as a comprehensive, solution-oriented service provider to critical rotating equipment owners and operators. The company delivered its most profitable year to date in 2020 amidst much uncertainty in the market.
Prior to EthosEnergy, Steve spent 25 years at General Electric where he was President/CEO of Wind Energy, Hydropower, Service and Aftermarket Parts businesses and held various operations and technical leadership roles with GE Energy and GE Aerospace. Steve has a BSME and MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is also a certified Master Black Belt.
Sunny Elebua serves as senior vice president and Chief Strategy & Sustainability Officer at Exelon, where he is responsible for the development of an integrated strategy that addresses jurisdictional trends across our operating companies, coupling Exelon’s growth with the needs of its customers, regulators, and communities. In this role, he is also responsible for the development of Exelon’s sustainability strategy, including the Path to Clean, and leads Exelon’s efforts to evaluate and advance the technology, policy, and regulatory transformations required to achieve a net-zero GHG goal by 2050. Elebua also oversees technology and innovation functions across Exelon, leading the Technology Exchange and Partnership R&D programs to evaluate and invest in technologies that have the potential to be transformative over time.
Elebua was named to his current role in November 2021 after assuming responsibility for the company’s Sustainability efforts in August 2021. Prior to his current role, he served as vice president, Corporate Strategy & Technology from 2016 until 2021, and as a director from 2013 until 2016. Elebua began his career with Exelon in 2008 in the Corporate Development organization, where he was responsible for evaluating and executing potential M&A transactions, playing a significant role in the acquisition of Exelon’s renewables platform and the merger with Constellation Energy.
Prior to joining Exelon, Elebua was an investment banking associate with Wachovia Securities (Wells Fargo), where he covered the Energy & Power sector. He started his career at Arthur Andersen in the Assurance and Business Advisory Practice.

Dr. Nicholson is an economist with over 15 years of experience in the electric utility industry. Her expertise lies in wholesale electricity, ancillary services, capacity market design, competition, market power mitigation, and retail cost allocation and rate design. Most recently, Dr. Nicholson served as an economist at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), where she played a key role in the Commission’s Price Formation effort. She was also involved in the May 2017 technical conference on integrating state policies with RTO/ISO energy and capacity markets and numerous filings related to RTO/ISO energy, ancillary services, and capacity market design issues. While at FERC, Dr. Nicholson served as a technical advisor to then-Chairman Norman Bay, and was designated by FERC to assist PJM and its stakeholders with a proposal to revise PJM’s capacity market to integrate resources that receive out-of-market support from states.
Prior to joining FERC, Dr. Nicholson was a consultant at Exeter Associates where, among other things, she testified on retail cost allocation and rate design matters before state public utilities commissions in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island. Dr. Nicholson holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from Georgetown University and a B.A. in Economics and Government from the University of Maryland at College Park.
Susan Pope is a Managing Director with FTI Consulting based in Boston. Susan Pope is in the energy practice in the Economic Consulting segment. Dr. Pope has 20 years of consulting experience in the electric power sector. She specializes in the economic and public policy analysis of electricity markets, advising clients on the design, improvement and performance of bid-based electricity spot markets, capacity markets, and ancillary service markets. She has expertise in leading discussions of alternatives for the design of regional electricity markets and of the related topics of transmission rights and transmission cost recovery. She has participated extensively in the stakeholder processes used to form and direct the operation of independent system operators and has led stakeholder groups through discussions of a number of controversial issues.
Dr. Pope is a member of a team of economists that has worked with the New York Independent System Operator, PJM, the California ISO, the Midwest ISO, ERCOT, the Ontario IESO and ISO-New England, as well as with organizations in other regions, on the design of rules for the operation of wholesale electricity markets. Throughout her career, Dr. Pope has also worked for other electricity sector clients, providing advisory services to established companies and market entrants facing a range of strategic and tactical decisions. Dr. Pope provides expert support for clients participating in a variety of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and state regulatory proceedings.
Dr. Pope has provided written and direct testimony in a number of cases before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and has played a key role in important proceedings, advising on case strategy and coordinating testimony and analyses from multiple parties. She is the co-author of a number of whitepapers and has been a frequent speaker at industry conferences.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Dr. Pope was a Principal at LECG, LLC for over ten years and, prior to this, a Principal and Associate at Putnam, Hayes and Bartlett, Inc.
Dr. Pope earned an A.B. in Applied Mathematics, cum laude, and a Ph.D. in Business Economics, both from Harvard University.
Patrick Leahy is Managing Director and Global Power Leader at GE Energy Financial Services. In this role, he is responsible for leading the team that executes the business unit’s investment activities in gas-fired electricity generation across North America, Europe, Asia, Middle East Northern Africa and Turkey (MENAT), Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America.
Leahy joined EFS in 2006 and has subsequently taken on roles of increasing responsibility. Most recently, he served as the US Execution Leader, responsible for leading a team that executed over $1 Billion in power and renewable energy investments annually in the United States.
Leahy has more than 20 years of energy and financial services experience. His introduction to the energy industry was as a project developer for Enron in Latin America. He subsequently provided professional services to multiple Fortune 500 corporations and the World Resources Institute to catalyze corporate demand for 1,000 MW of renewable energy. In this role, he worked closely with leading companies to analyze, develop and successfully execute renewable energy projects and strategies.
Patrick is a CFA Charterholder (Chartered Financial Analyst) and holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and a master’s degree in International Economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
Dale helps to accelerate the growth of innovative, early-stage companies using Halliburton’s facilities, technical expertise, and business network. As Managing Director, he has leadership responsibility for Halliburton Labs. Dale is a member of the Halliburton Labs Advisory Board, and is passionate about their mission to advance cleaner, affordable energy. Dale most recently served as vice president for Halliburton’s specialty chemicals business. He joined Halliburton in 2014 after several years at a leading global chemicals and materials science company. Dale holds a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Wright has over 30 years of senior management experience in private equity, investment banking, and energy companies. She joined Goldman Sachs in 1998 and helped to launch Goldman Sachs Power, the firm’s initial entry into electricity commodity markets, including the successful development of Constellation Power Source, a joint venture with Constellation Energy Group.
In 2001, she became part of the senior management team at Constellation, where she held various roles within its commodity trading, investing, and risk management unit, leading the development and execution of a wide range of investments.
In 2005, Wright became a co-founding Partner at Energy Capital Partners, where she served as a lead director of FirstLight Power Holdings, the acquirer of fourteen power plants including over 1300 MW of hydroelectric and pumped storage generating capacity.
In 2014, Wright went on to establish Hull Street Energy, which is differentiated by its mission focus, deep industry expertise, and proprietary analytical approach to investing in the energy transition. Through its affiliate Central Rivers Power, Hull Street Energy currently owns and operates 45 hydroelectric stations which provide over 340 MW of clean energy to customers across the United States.
Wright received a B.A. from Smith College, an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and was recently named to Forbes 2021 50 over 50: Investment list.
Mr. Jeffrey Olson is the Vice President of Business Development & Finance for Kairos Power, and has over 10 years of experience managing strategic growth initiatives for energy technology companies to develop, scale and manage their businesses. Prior to his direct engagement in the early stage energy sector, Mr. Olson spent the first half of his career in management consulting advising Fortune 500 companies on business growth and systems development.
Prior to joining Kairos Power, Mr. Olson led strategic partnership development and commercial operations at the artificial intelligence energy storage provider, Stem, Inc., as the company’s Vice President of Partner Operations. Mr. Olson joined Stem from the fuel cell sector in his roles in corporate finance and international business development with Bloom Energy. Mr. Olson also served as an executive with Accenture’s Strategy Group where he was a founding member of Accenture’s Global Sustainability Practice.
Mr. Olson graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with an MBA and a Certificate in Engineering & Business for Sustainability. He received his B.A. in Economics from St. Olaf College.
Jonathan Melmed is a Mergers & Acquisitions/Private Equity corporate partner based in New York. He is Co-Chair of the firm’s Global Private Equity/M&A practice with over 20 years of experience and is currently serving on our Policy Committee, the firm’s governing and management group. Jonathan represents private equity funds, pension plans, sovereigns, family offices, hedge funds, corporate clients and investment banks re U.S. and international M&A, private equity and complex corporate transactions. Brian Kelly is chair of the firm's energy industry team. He advises energy industry and financial clients on a wide range of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, energy project and infrastructure development, project finance and structured commodity and hedging transactions.
Mr. Kelly has worked on solar, wind, biomass, natural gas, geothermal and battery projects, as well as non-energy infrastructure and commodity financings in the United States and internationally.

Drummi Bhatt is a power and energy industry executive with a global perspective from her business, non-profit, and volunteer experiences in Americas, Europe, and Asia. As a Vice President of Market Intelligence and Strategy at Mitsubishi Power Americas, she leads market research and strategy for the power and energy markets, managing the company’s vision toward a decarbonized, digitalized, and decentralized energy future. Drummi and her global team develop business planning strategies to lead energy transition through ideation and research on evolving market changes and future growth initiatives based on a deep understanding of environmental, competitive, and economic trends and customer needs.
Prior to joining Mitsubishi Power, Drummi held executive positions leading energy trading, portfolio management, financial planning and analysis, business planning, and merger and acquisition initiatives. In addition to her corporate work, Drummi is the founder of KarmaKonnect, a women and rural empowerment non-profit, under which she implements projects in rural empowerment, child education, and clean energy/water/sanitation in India through a network of ground partners. She has led several social volunteering missions including solar microgrid installations for orphanages and villages of Haiti and Ladakh, India. Drummi supports early-stage social entrepreneurs through angel investments and mentoring and is actively involved in the development of India’s startup ecosystem.

Dr. Bowring is the President of Monitoring Analytics. Since 1999, Dr. Bowring has been the Independent Market Monitor for PJM, responsible for all market monitoring activities of PJM Interconnection. He has extensive experience in applied energy and regulatory economics. Dr. Bowring is regularly called upon to testify before state and federal regulators. He has a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Bowring has taught economics as a member of the faculty at Bucknell University and Villanova University. He has served as a senior staff economist for the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and as Chief Economist for the New Jersey Department of the Public Advocate's Division of Rate Counsel. Dr. Bowring has also worked as an independent consulting economist.
Ms. Greenwald has over 35 years of energy and environmental policy leadership experience in the public and nonprofit sectors, including the U.S. Congress, the White House, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Energy, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES, formerly the Pew Center on Global Climate Change). Highlights of her distinguished career include working on the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments as congressional committee staff; overseeing energy and environmental programs at C2ES and DOE; co-founding the Carbon Capture Coalition; advising US state and regional greenhouse gas initaitives; and collaborating with stakeholders to advance both economic and environmental goals.
She has focused extensively on deep decarbonization through the interplay of public policy, technology innovation, human behavior, and markets. She served as Deputy Director for Climate, Environment, and Energy Efficiency at US DOE's Energy Policy and Systems Analysis Office, and the Senior Climate Advisor to the Energy Secretary. She is a fellow at Princeton University's Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment. Ms. Greenwald received a B.S. in Engineering, cum laude, from Princeton University, and an M.A. in Science, Technology, and Public Policy from George Washington University.
Mike Spoont has over 30 years of experience in the IT industry- both as a business leader and practicing professional. As president of ProArch, Spoont leads the Power Practice that serves 100+ power generation plants, either directly with Private Equity or in partnership with O&M companies.
Spoont works with independent power producers to create a standardized technology strategy that brings improved operational efficiency and resiliency across the fleet. He has experience in digital transformation, mergers & acquisitions, cybersecurity, compliance, and data analytics.
Prior to his current role, Spoont was CEO and founder of an IT organization that was acquired by ProArch in 2020.
As VP of Business Development at Quidnet Energy, Richard Brody drives the company’s strategy to commercially deploy its innovative long-duration energy storage technology—Geomechanical Pumped Storage (GPS)—allowing greater renewable energy integration and accelerating electric grid decarbonization.
Previously, as Director of Sales and Marketing for Energy Storage at Lockheed Martin Energy, Richard launched the GridStar® Lithium system and led business development for GridStar® Flow, a new battery technology for large-scale, long duration applications. Before Lockheed Martin, Richard led business development at Primus Power, SustainX, and PowerGenix, three energy storage startups.
Over a decade at United Technologies Corporation (UTC), Richard served as President of international operations in Moscow, then Vice President of International Business Development at UTC Power. In the latter position, he established the company’s clean energy business in Asia and Europe. Before UTC, Richard worked at the White House as Special Advisor on International Affairs to Vice President Al Gore.
Richard currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of the California Energy Storage Alliance. He was previously Board Chair of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia, during his time in Moscow.
Richard earned a B.A. from Columbia University and an MA/Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
Mr. Brunetti is leading the efforts to expand Platts power analytics around the globe, leveraging on the S&P Global proprietary world power plant database. In addition, Mr. Brunetti is leading Platts analytics global wind and solar outlooks. Mr. Brunetti spent over 15 years at PIRA Energy Group, now part of S&P Global Platts, where he launched and managed the PIRA’s European Electricity Service, which provides market insights into the developments of power generation, demand, cross-border trading, and prices for Europe’s most relevant markets. Prior to joining PIRA, now part of S&P Global Platts, in 2001, he was at Caminus (Sungard, leading provider of software for energy, now part of FIS), where he worked on market analysis for CCGTs projects and on asset acquisitions and divestments. He began his career in strategic planning at Enel. Mr. Brunetti graduated magna cum laude in economics and management from Bari University (Italy) and obtained a master's in energy economics from the ENSPM Institut Français du Pétrole (Paris).
Ms. Gasca, Managing Editor, North American and European Power, oversees S&P Global Commodity Insights’ indices for Power across the world, including Power, renewables, and content-related Platts Electricity offerings. She previously worked among various firms such as Shell, BP, Peoples Gas & Coke Company, and Constellation New Energy among others with roles as power and natural gas Trader and retail energy Executive. Ms. Gasca has a Master’s in Econometrics and an MBA from Loyola University Chicago and a Bachelors in Economics and Mathematics from Northern Illinois University. She is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Houston Bauer School of business, teaching Power Markets and Trading.
Carlos Pascual leads the integration of geopolitics, energy, and markets for S&P Global Commodity Insights. He works with clients globally on the challenges and opportunities of transitioning to a Net Zero emissions world and the implications for energy justice. Mr. Pascual also leads S&P Global Commodity Insights businesses in Latin America.
Mr. Pascual was previously US Ambassador to both Mexico and Ukraine and was Special Assistant to the US president for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia on the National Security Council. As the former US Energy Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs at the State Department, Mr. Pascual established and directed the Energy Resources Bureau and served as the Senior Advisor to the Secretary of State on energy issues. Earlier, Mr. Pascual created the position of Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stabilization in the State Department, establishing the first civilian response capacity to conflicts.
Mr. Pascual is also a non-resident fellow at Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy and a distinguished fellow at the Atlantic Council. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University and a Master of Public Policy degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
Ken Irvin, a co-leader of Sidley’s global Energy practice area team, represents clients on a variety of regulatory, enforcement, compliance, and transactional matters involving the U.S. wholesale electricity and natural gas markets, as well as with respect to the energy transition. Ken has extensive experience representing clients in regulatory and investigations proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and multiple state energy regulatory agencies, which includes handling FERC enforcement matters and self-reports. Ken regularly advises energy traders and marketers on physical and financial wholesale power and gas transactions, renewable energy credits, carbon emissions trading, renewable natural gas, mergers and asset acquisition approvals, regional energy market rules and tariff requirements, power purchase and sale agreements, and issues related to the design and operation of wholesale energy and capacity markets. Ken also advises energy companies, marketers, financial institutions, private equity funds and institutional investors and advisors on regulatory requirements under the Federal Power Act, the Natural Gas Act, the Public Utility Holding Company Act, and the creation and implementation of robust compliance programs.
Ken’s practice spans representing clients on federal and state commodity and energy, electricity, natural gas, oil, alternative energy, and emissions matters. In addition to helping clients ensure compliance with FERC and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) requirements, Ken provides counsel on hedging and credit risks, contract structures and disputes, arbitrations, bankruptcy, non-performing assets, and regulatory issues involving energy and commodities trading.
Ken’s experience includes successfully defending clients on enforcement and anti-manipulation cases under FERC regulation, for investigations initiated by regulatory staff, whistleblowers, or self-reported. Ken also represents clients acquiring or releasing natural gas transportation and storage services; FERC v. bankruptcy jurisdictional battles, precedent agreements; asset management agreements under FERC Order 712; securing FERC approval for corporate reorganizations or acquisitions under the Federal Power Act section 203; PUHCA; handling complaint proceedings under FPA 206; and representing shippers in rate cases under the Natural Gas Act.
Jesse Grossman is an established leader in the solar industry and has over 15 years of experience in project finance, emerging markets and renewable energy. In 2005, driven to transform the US energy economy through the rapid deployment of renewable assets, Jesse co-founded Soltage, an independent renewable power producer that develops, finances and operates distributed utility solar and solar-plus-storage project portfolios across the U.S. Jesse has served as Soltage’s Chairman and CEO since its founding, and has directed over $1B into solar asset investment through Soltage, which currently owns and manages a solar portfolio of over 450 MW across 16 states.
Himanshu Saxena is Chief Executive Officer of Starwood Energy and is responsible for supervision of the Firm’s investment program and strategy, as well as overall management of the Firm. Mr. Saxena sits on both the Investment Committee and the boards of portfolio companies. Mr. Saxena is also responsible for the development and management of the investment team. In addition, he maintains responsibilities for origination, structuring, execution, monitoring and exiting investments across the energy industry. Mr. Saxena has led the acquisition and development of numerous power generation and transmission projects and midstream and downstream assets in North America, with aggregate enterprise value of more than $13 billion.
Prior to joining Starwood Energy in early 2008, Mr. Saxena was an investment banker with JPMorgan’s global energy and utilities group. Before that, Mr. Saxena worked at American Electric Power, where he focused on managing financial risks in the power trading business and on optimizing a power generation portfolio. Mr. Saxena was previously a Chemical Engineer at industrial gas company Praxair, where he filed for several patents.
Mr. Saxena currently serves on the Advisory Board at Cornell University’s Program in Infrastructure Policy (CPIP), as a Board Member for the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), and on the Advisory Council of Cornell Energy Systems Institute.
Mr. Saxena earned an MBA from Duke University, where he was a Fuqua Scholar, an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University, and a Bachelor’s of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (“IIT”) in Bombay, India.
Mr. Dorman joined the NRC in 1991 as a project engineer in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR). He subsequently served as the licensing project manager in NRR for Vermont Yankee and Maine Yankee. In 1999, he was selected as Chief, Quality Assurance and Safety Assessment Section, Division of Inspection Program Management, NRR. Since joining the Senior Executive Service (SES) in 2001, Mr. Dorman has served in a number of senior management positions including Chief, Engineering Research Applications Branch, Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research; Deputy Director, Division of Nuclear Security, Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response (NSIR); Director, Division of Security Operations, NSIR; Director, Division of Fuel Cycle Safety and Safeguards, Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS); Deputy Office Director, NMSS; Deputy Director for Engineering and Corporate Support, NRR; Acting Director, NRR; and Regional Administrator, Region I.
Prior to joining the NRC, Mr. Dorman served as a submarine officer in the US Navy's nuclear power program with a subspecialty in joint intelligence operations. He received a bachelor's degree in naval architecture and marine engineering from the Webb Institute of Naval Architecture and is a graduate of NRC's SES Candidate Development Program. He received the NRC's Meritorious Service Award in 1998 and the Presidential Rank Meritorious Executive Award in 2008.
Paul Luce is a Managing Director for Vision Ridge Partners based in Boulder, Colorado. Mr. Luce is an experienced private equity investor with a strong track record of investments made across real assets and infrastructure sectors including power generation, energy infrastructure, utility services and transportation/mobility. Prior to Vision Ridge, Mr. Luce was most recently a Senior Investment Leader at Partners Group, a global investment firm with over 120 billion of AUM. Mr. Luce has held seats on the Boards of Directors of Arcanum Infrastructure, EnfraGen, Sentinel Energy Center and he was a Board Observer for USIC. Mr. Luce has been in principal investment roles for ~15 years, starting his career in early-stage venture capital and subsequently investing the University of Washington’s endowment funds prior to his tenure at Partners Group and Vision Ridge. Mr. Luce received his MBA from Columbia Business School and his BA from the University of Washington.
Curtis A. “Curt” Morgan, chief executive officer: Since October 2016, Morgan has served in the roles of president and of chief executive officer of Vistra.
During his 37-year career spanning nearly the entire spectrum of the energy complex, Morgan has held leadership responsibilities in nearly every major US power market. Prior to joining Vistra, Morgan was an operating partner at Energy Capital Partners (ECP), a private equity firm focused on investing in energy infrastructure. He joined the firm in 2015 and was involved in all areas of the firm’s investment activities and portfolio company operations.
Prior to joining ECP, he served as the president and CEO of both EquiPower Resources Corp. and FirstLight Power Resources, Inc. He has also held leadership positions at NRG Energy, Mirant Corporation, Reliant Energy, and BP Amoco.
Morgan serves on the board of directors of Vistra, Acropolis Infrastructure Acquisition Corp., and the Electric Power Supply Association, the competitive power generation industry organization. He is also on the board of Comp-U-Dopt, a non-profit providing digital and technology access and education to underserved youth.
A certified public accountant, Morgan received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Western Illinois University and a master’s of business administration in finance and economics from the University of Chicago.
Christina Scalzo is Vice President of M&A and Strategy at Vistra Corporation, where she is responsible for the origination, evaluation, and execution of strategic and innovative opportunities. Prior to joining Vistra, Christina held corporate development and principal investment roles at SemGroup, Bregal Energy, and Energy Capital Partners. Christina began her career in investment banking at Goldman Sachs. Throughout her career, Christina has focused on energy, power, renewables, and new technologies. Christina has experience in mergers and acquisitions, project development, financing, corporate planning, portfolio company management, sustainability, and innovation. Christina received a B.S. in Economics, with concentrations in Finance, Global Analysis, and Management, from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Jon Rodriguez has over 18 years of professional experience with a diverse background covering power generation in multiple industries including data center, utilities, mining, oil & gas, and commercial/industrial customers. His roles over the years have included delivery of projects as a project manager, delivery of products as an operations executive in manufacturing, and delivery of sales opportunities as both an outside salesperson and sales leader. He holds a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and earned his Professional Engineer license in the state of Wisconsin. He resides in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area.
Chad Teply became Senior Vice President of Project Execution for Williams in May 2020. He is responsible for successfully delivering projects across the company’s footprint through project management, construction, environmental, regulatory and permitting, facilities and land management functions.
Teply previously served as Senior Vice President, Business Policy and Development for PacifiCorp, a Berkshire Hathaway Energy company. During his tenure, he was responsible for PacifiCorp’s major construction activities for both generation and transmission. He also supported the company’s integrated resource planning, state and federal regulatory agency interactions, emerging technology deployment initiatives, and community outreach activities.
Previously, he was Vice President, Resource Development and Construction at PacifiCorp. Before joining PacifiCorp, Teply served as Director of Engineering for Northern Natural Gas and also held engineering and project management roles at other energy industry companies based in Iowa and Illinois. Early in his career, Teply was a project engineer assigned to the construction of Williams’ Pine Needle LNG facility.
Teply earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from South Dakota State University.
Mr. Marder is currently the Head of Project Finance at Wilmington Trust. His responsibilities include leading a team of client service relationship managers, as well as studying and leveraging market trends and developments to expand the Bank's trust and agency platform. Working in close partnership with sales, Mr. Marder seeks to find new opportunities for revenue growth and for the delivery of client-focused solutions to the project finance market. Mr. Marder has experience across the transaction lifecycle, having worked as an originator, underwriter, and asset manager (including workouts, restructurings, and asset sales).
